Self Love
Healing
This morning I had an impulse to ask the angels for a
message for the day. The answer I received was about self
love and healing from Archangel Raphael. It was exciting
because I'm newly practicing communicating directly with
angels for answers outside of intuitive readings.
Raphael offered this as my morning message, "Healing happens
in our own heart. It is through loving ourself that
transformation can begin and continues on as we practice
this."
I loved this message. It's always helpful to get that
validation. As someone who loves to offer healings and help
to others, but feels a bit guilty sometimes when I spend
time and money to get my own, confirmation from Raphael that
giving to myself and loving myself is ultimately the best
healing.
This message of self love being the start of healing goes
along with my training in Buddhist Psychotherapy from
Naropa. We studied about the Buddhist philosophy of
brilliant sanity (or self love) being the basis of healing.
As a therapist, our job is not to point out what is wrong
with the client. It is to help them find their inherent
goodness, sanity, joy so they can internalize this and start
loving themselves, also called Maitri in Buddhism. At the
end, I describe a meditation for developing self love.
My practice lately has been a practice of self love healing
by taking time during the day to spend time in nature. Going
on a hike with two of my doggies on a very beautiful trail
near my house is one of my favorites. The other is laying in
my hammock in my yard and listening to the birds &
watching the tress glitter in the breeze.
For me, this act feeds my heart and feels so nourishing to
my spirit. Like a spoonful of love. So much of the time I've
had my own business, I've felt like if I am not working
during the day, being productive, then my business will
collapse. Because much of my work is from home, it's hard to
just relax and give myself love during the day. So much to
do for my business or for the house or for my
puppies/husband.
I feel so wonderful when I take time for self love practices
during the work day. Meditation, eating a good
breakfast/lunch, time in nature, and exercise are all acts
of self love I believe.
A meditation I practice to deepend my self love and
compassion for others is the "metta practice", metta meaning
loving kindness. Basically, you breathe light into your
heart and breathe it out to others. There can be more
details if you want to be specific. Here's a 20 min
meditation, starting with a body centering practice, then a
metta practice, with a water fountain in the background.
If you find you are in a defecit of self love, it is great
to reach out to a friend who can help you return to it, or a
professional who can help you reconnect to your love, your
heart, your basic goodness. This should be the basis for any
therapy, helping you reconnect with self love, so you can
internalize it and continue the path of healing on your own,
everyday.
May all beings enjoy peace, understanding and amusement with
increase every day. Blessings.
